Siem Reap

An absolutely incredible city. 100% worth the detour from other Asian stops to interact with extremely friendly people in an amazing setting.

Siem Reap is a city in Cambodia that is famous for its proximity to the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world, and draws visitors from all over the globe. The city itself is a vibrant and charming place, with a range of cultural and historical attractions, as well as modern amenities and activities to suit any traveler.

The main attraction in Siem Reap is undoubtedly the Angkor Archaeological Park, which includes the famous Angkor Wat temple complex, as well as dozens of other ruins and temples. Visitors can explore the ruins on foot, by bike, or by tuk-tuk, and can even take a hot air balloon ride for a unique view of the site. The park is also home to a range of wildlife, including monkeys and exotic birds, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers.

In addition to the archaeological sites, Siem Reap also offers a range of cultural and historical attractions. The city has a thriving arts scene, with several galleries and theaters showcasing local talent. Visitors can also explore the traditional markets and shops in the city, which offer a range of traditional Cambodian handicrafts and souvenirs. For a taste of the local cuisine, visitors can sample traditional Khmer dishes, such as amok (fish curry) and lok lak (stir-fried beef).

Finally, Siem Reap is a great destination for those looking to relax and unwind. The city is home to a range of spas and wellness centers, offering traditional Khmer massages and other treatments.
