Florence

This is my happy place. Everyone should go to Florence multiple times in their lives.

Florence is a city that is steeped in history, art, and culture, making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy. The city is known as the birthplace of the Renaissance and is home to some of the most important works of art in the world. Visitors can explore the historic center of Florence, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and admire the stunning architecture of the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Ponte Vecchio. The Uffizi Gallery and Accademia Gallery are also must-sees for art lovers, housing masterpieces by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli.

Florence is also known for its world-renowned culinary scene, which includes traditional dishes like ribollita, bistecca alla fiorentina, and cantucci. Visitors can explore the bustling San Lorenzo Market and sample some of the city’s most delicious street food, including panini and gelato. For those who want a more upscale dining experience, Florence is home to some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy. However, I would advise against it. Take a day trip to Modena for Osteria Francescana if you want an extraordinary culinary experience.

Beyond art and food, Florence also offers stunning natural beauty. The Tuscan countryside surrounding the city is filled with rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves. Visitors can take a day trip to the charming towns of Siena and San Gimignano or explore the Chianti wine region. With its rich history, beautiful architecture, and stunning surroundings, Florence is a city that offers something for everyone.
